Driving Directions

Mission:Wolf welcomes visitors Monday-Wednesday, Friday-Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please DO NOT bring your dog to the sanctuary.


Beware GPS! Once on the dirt roads stick to the directions listed below or you will get lost.

From Westcliffe (coming from the north): Follow Highway 69 south aproximately 30 miles and turn left on Gardner Road (County Road 634). Follow Gardner Road for 13.2 miles, keeping right at two "Y" intersections in the first 5 miles. At the Blue Spring State Land Trust sign and cattleguard, turn right. Follow the Mission: Wolf driveway 1.6 miles along a fence line and across the field, all the way up the hill to the sanctuary. This route may be extremely muddy with large snowdrifts from November through May.

From Gardner (coming from the south): Follow Highway 69 west from Gardner for 2 miles, and turn right on Gardner Road (County Road 634, a dirt road.) Follow Gardner Road for 13.2 miles, keeping right at two "Y" intersections in the first 5 miles. At the Blue Spring State Land Trust sign and cattleguard, turn right. Follow the Mission: Wolf driveway 1.6 miles along a fence line and across the field, all the way up the hill to the sanctuary. This route may be extremely muddy with large snowdrifts from November through May.

From Bishop's Castle on Hwy 165: Drive one mile northwest on Hwy 165 and turn left at Ophir Creek Campground. Follow Ophir Creek Road south for 16 miles turn left at the Mission: Wolf driveway, just before the Blue Spring State Land Trust cattleguard. Drive 1.6 miles along a fence and all the way up the hill to the sanctuary. This route is closed in winter.

From Taos, NM or Great Sand Dunes via Hwy 160 (coming from the southwest/west): From Fort Garland, CO, take Hwy 160 east for 18.5 miles. Turn left onto Pass Creek Road, a dirt road. Drive nine miles and turn right onto CR 570, a paved road, at the T intersection. Drive 5 miles to Hwy 69 and turn left. Follow the directions above from Gardner. This route may have deep snow in winter.
